Opal Plumstead

The story follows 14-year-old Opal, whose dreams of university are shattered when her father is sent to prison. To support her family, Opal is forced to leave her posh school and take a job at a sweet factory. It is there she meets a factory owner who introduces her to the Suffragette movement and the fight for women’s rights.
